Selvolina

The property is thought to date from around the 1700’s and part of it may have been a local inn where pilgrims would rest for the night on their way along the ‘via Francigena’ to Rome. Remains of this via are found on the property and also forms part of various walks around the mountains. The via degli Abati is even older and one can join parts of it for nice walks through the woods.

Selvolina comprises three buildings within approximately 4 acres of land delimited by two torrents, ‘fiume senza nome’ ‘river without name’ and the ‘fiume Selvolina’ ‘river Selvolina’. Previously the buildings had been part of a large farm but the farm/forest land has been sold off.  The main house is occupied by the owners (Aldo & Sandra) and Casa Anita, named after one of our Labradors, was totally renovated in June 2012.

The third building, believed to be the oldest (just in front of the water fountain) later remained as a stable and where they would dry/roast chestnuts.

We inaugurated the 12m x 5m infinity pool in the summer of 2012. It overlooks the Taro valley and has a constant depth of 1.30m. The bottom is lined and soft to touch. The access is via Roman steps which also include a seating ‘step’ enabling one to sit and admire the wonderful view. 

Guests at Casa Anita have use of the terrace outside their front door with a gazebo and outdoor dinning area as well as BBQ, stairs down to a grass terrace with a further gazebo with outside seating area and going down some more steps, to the SHARED** pool which consists of 120sqm of sun bathing area. The pool is normally open from beginning of May to end of September depending on the weather. 

** the pool is practically for the exclusive use of the guests at Casa Anita. The owners may occasionally use it. 

Amenities

Casa Anita offers a very comfortable and spacious house for 6 people with use of the pool and terraces comprising: 

• two double bedrooms with double beds and large wardrobes

• one large single bedroom which can accommodate one or two single beds or one double bed comfortably

• two bathrooms, one downstairs with shower, one upstairs with shower and bath, hand held hair dryer

• fully fitted kitchen with breakfast area including microwave, electric kettle & other, American coffee machine, moka coffee pots, Nespresso coffee machine, toaster, juicer, juice extractor, full oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, extractor hood, blender, hand beater, numerous saucepans, pans, plates, dishes, bowls ie a full working kitchen

• very comfortable sitting room / dinning room with 55” Sony LCD Digital Colour TV

• under house canteen area housing washing machine, iron & ironing board and where luggage may be left. Different clothes lines including one outside

• central heating throughout and a wood burner (wood included)

• plenty of outside terraces with gazebos, tables & chairs, garden chairs & barbecue

• free parking

• a baby cot and highchair are available as well as a baby bath

• WiFi throughout with 140 mbytes in download

• a fan is available but as we are at 700mts above sea level the temperature drops at night and it becomes very cool. There is no need for air conditioning. 

• the pool is provided with loungers, small tables, sun shades and a sun heated shower.  There is a power point and tap with drinking water. The most recent best practice has been used for the filtering & purification plant of the pool. The pool is illuminated both inside and outside.
